A Wistaston man who vanished in Spain after watching Stoke City in the Europa League has been found in a hotel, his wife revealed.

Police today contacted Teresa Dykes to say husband Peter had been traced to a hotel in Madrid.

But Teresa still doesn’t know which hotel and what mental state Peter is in.

Now she is working with the national charity Missing Abroad to locate the hotel and make arrangements to get him home.

Spanish and Cheshire Police have been searching for the 43-year-oldĀ  since Saturday he failed to board his flight home on Saturday (February 25).

Peter, father to 12-year-old Harry, had flown out with brother Chris last week to watch his beloved Stoke City play Valencia.

There were fears for his safety because he had gone without medication which can leave him in a confused state.

Family and friends had been preparing to fly out to Madrid with posters to join in the hunt.

Police found him after tracing bank transactions and mobile phone signals.

Teresa said: “Peter has been found by police in Madrid but we still do not know which hotel he is staying in.

“Please ask anyone who knows where he is to contact us. To me he is still missing. He is safe and alive but his mental state is still unconfirmed.”

He should have boarded a flight from Madrid to Heathrow and then Heathrow to Manchester.

Family and friends today thanked everyone for spreading the story across media platforms and social network sites.

Family friend Anne Gresty said: “Teresa is so unbelievably grateful for everyone for their help and for spreading the word.

“It’s fantastic seeing the power of social networking at work and just how far and wide the message got out!”
