Work has started on a new Nantwich housing development on the old job centre site on Wellington Road.

Construction teams have been on site this week to begin the £1.8 million development close to Nantwich railway station.

A new three-storey building is being erected as part of Wulvern Housing’s £27.7 million programme.

It will include 12 two-bedroom and two one-bedroom apartments, with underground parking.

Wulvern Development Manager Nick Powell said Crewe-based contractors, Lothlorian, have been appointed and that work should be complete by March 2013.

The £27.7 million investment includes a £4.3 million grant from the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.
