A team of Nantwich Town fans beat off stiff competition from rival clubs – to prove they are the brainiest in Cheshire.

Rob Woods, Eddie Gould, Ian Garnett, Lewis Delaney, Carl Thorpe, Graham Woods, David Foulkes and Paul Dean landed the first trophy for the Dabbers in 2012.

Now they are hoping Jimmy Quinn’s men can do the business on the pitch next week and land the second one – in the Cheshire Senior Cup final against Stalybridge Celtic.

Supporters from Nantwich, Witton Albion, Northwich Victoria, Macclesfield Town and Crewe Alex all took part in the inaugural Inter Club Supporters Quiz Trophy.

Rob Woods led the team with lucky Mascot Schume, and the evening was hosted by RedShift Radio and their presenters Stuart Pirie and Gavin Hammond.

The quiz, staged at Nantwich’s Weaver Stadium, featured football-themed questions and videos that tested the knowledge of the various teams to the limit.

“It was a great night,” said Rob.

“Hopefully the first team can emulate our achievements by adding to our trophy next Tuesday in the Cheshire Senior Cup Final.”

Before then, the Dabbers travel to play North Ferriby United tomorrow (April 21) in their final Evo-Stik Premier League fixture, kick off 3pm.

The Cheshire Cup final takes place at Chester’s Exacta Stadium on Tuesday April 24, kick off 7.45pm.
