Nantwich Civic Society members were joined by volunteers for the town’s third annual Spring Clean.

People from groups like Nantwich in Bloom, Nantwich Litter Group, Reaseheath College Horticultural Students and Barclays Bank Knutsford staff, took part.

They worked together on Monday and Thursday of last week (June 3 and 6) as part of the annual event.

They cleaned flower planters, bins, dirty corners, behoving seats, and reached parts not normally cleaned by regular maintenance.

They also painted bollards and lampposts in and around the town centre, rejuvenated seven seats from the Civic Hall to the Old Biot and the Riverside at Waterlode.

Jeff Stubbs, chairman of the Nantwich Civic Society, said: “The days were another great example of local people pulling together to do some extra work on our town centre’s environment to make it even better for visitors and residents alike.

“We were assisted once again by the Streetscape Team of Cheshire East who loaned lots of equipment, tools and took all the bags of rubbish away afterwards.”

Jeff was later joined by highways maintenance officer Mark Bone for a tour of the problems they’d encountered during their work.

Many holes, cracks and redundant or rusty poles have already been dealt with or are on their list to complete soon.

Similar clean up days are planned in the near future.
