Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson will be hoping his side can take their improved run of form into the FA Cup.

The Dabbers entertain Rugby Town tomorrow (September 14) in the First Qualifying Round.

Johnson’s side built on their 5-1 thrashing of Stocksbridge with an accomplished display against league leaders AFC Fylde on Tuesday night.

And the manager feels they fully deserved a point thanks to Aaron Burns netting his sixth goal of the season with a sublime lob.

“I think we’re proving now we are going to be a competitive team in this league,” said the Nantwich boss.

“The lads have just got to embrace what they did against Fylde and what they did in the second half at Stocksbridge and take it forward.”

Rugby needed a replay and penalties to overcome Norton United in the preliminary round, but the Dabbers will be giving the Southern League Central Division side the utmost respect.

“We won’t be taking anything for granted,” added Johnson. “This is the best cup competition in the world and we want to do well.”

Andy White, named man of the match against Fylde, is set to continue at left-back for the Dabbers as Danny Caldecott starts a three-match suspension.

Rugby are expected to welcome back winger Lewis McBride who missed last Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at home to Slough.

Striker David Kolodynski and midfielder Sam Belcher are injury doubts for Dave Stringer’s side.

The First Qualifying Round tie kicks off at the Weaver Stadium at 3pm and admission is £9 for adults, £6 concessions and £2 for children. There is free matchday parking at the stadium.

The September draw for the Nantwich Town 100 Club will take place in the club bar after the game. There’s still time to join the 100 Club – just visit the 100 Club page for more details.

*If the match is drawn, the replay at Rugby Town is scheduled for Tuesday September 17.
