An exhibition by local artist Kate McKennan has opened at Nantwich Museum.

Kate’s exhibition of paintings and drawings are on show in the Millennium Gallery until Saturday June 21.

It includes paintings, small three dimensional pieces and life drawings reflecting the role played in work by rhythm and music, mathematics and all natural forms.

Most of the work is about ‘man’ and nature, ‘man’ versus nature or ‘man’ as nature.

Kate says of her art: “Geometry, surprise, rhythm and pattern painted through vehicles of natural but also man made forms provide the basis for my work.”

At the opening of the exhibition, chairman of the Museum Trust Nick Dyer said it was “a privilege for the museum to be able to display such wonderful art”.

Kate trained at the Manchester College of Art and has taught art at all levels. In 2011 she was curator of the Nantwich Festival of Arts.

She currently teaches life drawing at the Handels Court Gallery in Chester.

Her work has been exhibited widely in regional and national exhibitions. Also in the De Castellaine Gallery, New York and Ekaterinburg Union of Artists Gallery in Russia.

Most of the artwork displayed in the exhibition is for sale.
