A man has been charged in connection with a fraud case in which a Wistaston woman was allegedly conned out of £9,000.
The man is charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and will appear at Chester Crown Court on September 19.
The charge relates to an incident on July 31.
Cheshire Police have issued a warning to residents to guard against fraudsters who use different methods to extract money from their victims.
On occasions, they may even pose as plain clothes police officers.
Det Sgt Donna Pearson, of the financial investigation unit, said: “Fraudsters can be very convincing and may even be able to assure the victim that they are dealing with a police officer and that there is a plausible reason for handing over a sum of money to them.
“We want to make it clear that police officers will never ask a member of the public to hand over bank cards or cash and if they are ever asked to do so by someone claiming to be a police officer, they should call us immediately.”
Recent police inquiries in Cheshire have located a number bank cards and officers are keen to locate their owners.
