Danny Johnson during Nantwich Town V Curzon Ashton 29-11-14

Nantwich Town have won the Northern Premier League Fair Play Award for the month of November, writes Richard Scott.

The Dabbers picked up only two cautions in the month in their four league games, putting them top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division fair play table.

A league official will be at the home game against Barwell on Tuesday December 9 to present the certificate and a bottle of Pol Roger Champagne.

Meanwhile, Nantwich Town manager Danny Johnson has spoken of his disappointment to have lost 2-1 to Curzon Ashton.

Johnson said: “People tell me we need to improve performances, I am not so sure. We need to win football matches.

“We are disappointed to be leading 1-0 and not taken a couple of chances and really hammer the result home. We sat off a little bit once we got the goal.

“We should have possibly tried to have gone and tried to grab the bull by the horns and we didn’t.

“I thought for the first 20 minutes they didn’t know what was going on. We were right on top of the game and scored the goal.

“But two unbelievable goals from Curzon, fair play to them you can see why they are up there in the leading pack.

“But I also believe you look at us and it’s two unbelievable strikes and we are not far away if we keep the lads on the pitch.”

Nantwich Town have hit little luck with injuries plaguing the squad so far this season.

Johnson added: “We have had six or seven lads not train in the week and we have not been able to work on any shape or anything we want to be working on.

“The lads are falling off the fitness because they have not been able to train with knee, calf and ankle injuries.

“I said to them look I need people training, you’re no good to anyone if you can’t train and just turn up to play.

“So the lads will need to take a little bit of responsibility and we go again.

“What else can we do? We proved we can compete as a unit with the players we have got in the team and we just keep working hard.”
