Simon Bird, comedian, to appear at South Cheshire College

Inbetweeners star Simon Bird will be in town when he honours Crewe and Nantwich college students at an awards event.

Bird will be guest of honour at South Cheshire College Student Awards night to celebrate student success.

The actor and comedian will open the ceremony as guest speaker and present students with their awards.

He is best known for his roles in Friday Night Dinner and as Will in The Inbetweeners, for which he won Best Male Newcomer and Best Actor at the British Comedy Awards.

Students will be recognised in a range of categories which reflect the diverse courses offered at South Cheshire College.

These include an A-Level Student of the Year Award, vocational awards, apprentice awards and sports achiever of the year.

The event celebrates student achievement in a year when South Cheshire College was praised by Ofsted inspectors receiving a ‘good’ grading inspection.

Governors, local dignitaries, partners and sponsors to the college have been invited as VIPs to the event, where they will meet for drinks reception in the college’s double AA rosette-winning academy restaurant and deli.

The college sports hall will be transformed into an events arena with a purpose-built stage and filming equipment to publicise the ceremony on two big screens.

Principal of South Cheshire College Jasbir Dhesi said: “We are very much looking forward to bringing students, their families and the broader community together for this big event.

“It is the highlight of our academic year to celebrate outstanding students’ achievements and to complete what has been a fantastic year for South Cheshire College.”
