Organisers of Nantwich’s Words & Music Festival predict the best Festival yet, as ticket sales rocket.

Fans of original music and literature from across the region will travel to Nantwich for the ninth annual event from October 10-16.

Danny and the Champions of the World (pictured), UK artist and album winners at the UK Americana Awards 2016, will be attracting a younger audience in a Saturday afternoon slot at Nantwich’s Civic Hall.

The London band will be playing tracks from their award-winning 2015 album, What Kind of Love.

Legendary radio and TV presenter “Whispering” Bob Harris will be introducing the band as a personal favourite of his.

Bob said: “In terms of live performances, the experience that Danny and the Champions of the World are fabulous.

“The audience always love them!

“I love hearing them play – they bend the sound of the sax and that old chugging sound, with country music.

“Danny has his love of Bruce Springsteen and so loves hearing the sax.

“I’m looking forward to the festival and meeting the Nantwich audience again.”

Nigel Stonier, producer, singer/songwriter and co-founder of Words & Music Festival, said: “We have a real mix of acts this year, appealing to a wide audience.

“We are excited for Danny and the Champs to be part of the festival, a band who are really forging a name for themselves in the world of Americana.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the ninth Words & Music Festival later this month where tickets sales at this point have never been so high.

“We are expecting the biggest and best Festival to date.”

Tickets for headlining acts Dr John Cooper Clarke, Thea Gilmore, Eddi Reader and Stornaway are now all sold out.

There are a small number of tickets for “Whispering” Bob Harris introducing Danny and the Champions of the World, Smoke Fairies, Glen Matlock, The Travelling Band and Nigel Stonier.

Words & Music Festival is an annual event that draws musicians and poets from across the world to the Cheshire Market Town, many of them to perform at intimate venues close to the heart of the Nantwich community.
