Burglars broke into a house in Barbridge near Nantwich and tried to steal bikes before being disturbed.

Detectives appealing for witnesses say offenders targeted the back entrance of an address on Bankside Close in Barbridge.

It happened at around 9pm yesterday (Wednesday August 16).

Burglars removed two bikes from the property before being disturbed and escaped empty-handed.

One of the offenders is described as male, aged 15 or 16, wearing tracksuit bottoms.

The other offender is a man aged 28 to 30 years old.

PC Simon Knowles, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: “Although we have a brief description of the offenders, I want to urge anyone who may have more information to come forward and speak to officers so we can catch the people responsible.

“I also want to encourage residents to be extra vigilant and keep an eye out for anyone acting suspicously.”

Anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or has any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 978 of 16 August.
