Christmas Lights 2017, nantwich

Youngsters in Nantwich are being given the chance to turn on the town’s Christmas Lights later this month.

Nantwich Town Council is staging a competition with one lucky winner joining town Mayor Cllr Penny Butterill for the big switch-on.

The event is taking place on Thursday November 23 this year, and will include an array of entertainment on the square from 5pm.

The Cat Community Radio’s Chris Radford will return to host the event and there will be performances from Marc Gallagher, Nantwich Young Voices, and popular local band California Blue.

Rides and hot food stalls will lines the streets and there will be guest appearance from Santa’s Mixed Up Martian and Father Christmas.

To conclude the event expect a spectacular display from Blitz Fireworks around 7pm.

Turning on the lights this year will be the Mayor and sponsors of the central Christmas tree, Applewood Independent.

But children under the age of 12 are being invited to take part in the competition and join the team on stage and help switch the lights on.

The Civic Hall’s Mixed Up Martian has, well, got a little bit mixed up.

So competition entrants simply have to unscramble the word below to help him remember his best friends’ name!
