Student florists at Reaseheath - Team silver for Lola the showgirl

Reaseheath College’s talented student florists in Nantwich have qualified for the finals of the RHS Chelsea Future Florist for the fourth consecutive year.

The competition is held at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show (May 22 – 26) and is a national competition open to all colleges and training institutions.

The show is considered the best in the world and is attended by HM The Queen, other members of the royal family and many celebrities.

Reaseheath’s student team was told they had qualified due to the marks they gained at the regional competition, held at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park last summer.

The team, who were then studying for their Level 3 Diploma in Floristry, created a fantasy bug called “Lola the Showgirl” which was awarded a silver medal and an impressive 18 out of 20 marks for artistic impression.

Many of the students have progressed onto their Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry and are looking forward to the challenge at Chelsea, which is to create a floral arch for a Spring wedding.

Reaseheath College Level 4 student Karen Cope said: “This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to show off the skills we have learned. It would be amazing if we came back with another medal!”
