ditch - Cheshire Fire and Rescue from Audlem Fire Station displayed a full size fire appliance

A family escaped unharmed as fire ripped through their home in Nantwich.

The blaze broke out at a property on Wyche Avenue at around 5.45pm last night (April 26).

Fire crews from Nantwich and Crewe discovered that the fire involved an upstairs bedroom, which was well alight.

All people in the house at the time were accounted for. One woman was treated for smoke inhalation by North West Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a covering jet to put out the fire and a large high pressure van to clear the smoke from the property.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue crews then damped down affected areas and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

Fire crews were in attendance for more than four-and-a-half hours.

It’s not clear at this stage what caused the fire.
