EqualiTeas - nantwich museum sign - volunteers

Nantwich Museum is to join other venues across the UK in staging an EqualiTeas Event to mark the 1928 Equal Franchise Act.

The Pillory Street outlet will be including the event as part of its monthly Coffee Morning on Friday June 29.

It is one of more than 2,500 EqualiTeas events throughout the country celebrating the Act, which finally gave men and women over 21 the right to vote on the same basis.

It is an opportunity to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the legislation as well as enjoying refreshments in the museum galleries.

It is also a prelude to an autumn exhibition at the museum inspired by the centenary of the Representation of People Act of 1918 entitled “Empowerment of Women – a local perspective”.

Coffee Mornings are held 10.30am-12.30pm in the Millennium Gallery on the last Friday of each month (except bank holidays) in aid of museum funds.
