A care home in Nantwich has launched a “Men’s Den” scheme to boost the mental wellbeing of its male residents.

The new initiative has been launched at Barony Lodge Residential Care Home, on Barony Road.

The Sanctuary Care home runs the “Men’s Den” Club every Friday, bringing male residents together for relaxed, sociable activities that encourage conversation, friendship and a stronger sense of community.

With growing national awareness on the importance of men’s mental health, care bosses say the initiative highlights the power of connection.

Members have enjoyed a trip to the local pub, where they spent the afternoon playing pool and dominoes, chatting together over ice cream and finishing with a well-earned pint.

The outing offered an opportunity to socialise and enjoy each other’s company.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing Coordinator at the home Chelsea Harris said: “Sometimes the best support starts with a simple conversation.

“Our visit to the local pub brought people together and strengthened friendships.”

Resident Arthur Madeley added: “Days like this remind you how important friendship is.

“Getting out, socialising, and enjoying good company does wonders for your wellbeing.”

Sanctuary Care said: “The Men’s Den Club and its frequent outings is just one of the ways the home creates a supportive, inclusive environment where residents feel valued and connected.

“The Men’s Den group shows how small, everyday experiences can have a lasting impact, supporting wellbeing and helping residents continue to live full, enjoyable lives.”
