Firefighters investigating say it was “most probable” cause after flames ripped through Tilstone House on Nantwich Road last month.

Firefighters from across Cheshire spent several days tackling the fire in Tilstone Fearnall which broke out shortly before 8.30pm on Sunday January 12.

The fire caused extensive damage to the building, although firefighters were able to recover a large amount of furniture from the building.

Firefighters finally left the scene on Thursday January 16 and the building was handed over to the owner.

At its height, there were 10 fire engines have been in attendance from Tarporley, Nantwich, Chester, Winsford, Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Northwich along with an aerial appliance from Chester.

The main A51, Nantwich Road, was closed in both directions during the night while firefighters tackled the fire.
