Fireworks display - spooktacular

The Nantwich Spooktacular outdoor event has been put back to November 14, organisers have said.

The event, which attracts thousands of people to the Nantwich Showground Dorfold Park site in Nantwich, was due to be held on Halloween, Saturday October 31.

Now it’s emerged organisers are in talks with Cheshire East and Public Health England over staging the event under the borough’s new Covid-19 Tier 2 restrictions.

In a statement on its Facebook page, organisers have said: “We have had to revise the date of the 2020 Alpha Omega Spooktacular to Saturday November 14th.

“We are in constant contact with Cheshire East’s Event Safety Advisory Group and also PHE and we are awaiting for them to confirm acceptance of the changes we have made to comply with the most recent government announcements and guidelines.

“Our sincere apologies but this is completely beyond our control.

“Please be assured that we are trying our very best to keep the event on track but we are dealing with an ever changing situation and having to react to the plethora of government guidelines and announcements.”

They added that if the event is cancelled, all those who have advance tickets will receive a full refund.

The Spooktacular website page is also currently “under maintenance” today (October 17).

The event promises the region’s biggest firework display as well as a fun fair, licensed bar, catering stalls, Punch & Judy, Halloween fancy dress competitions and more.

  1. Is it really a surprise the editor didn’t reply to such a query?

    Rhetorical question.

  2. How amusing, and quite arrogant to think they could organise a public event in the middle of a pandemic, where only fools tread eh? This is not even going to be gone by 2021 so start thinking now how to organise it safely without taking the paying public for idiots

  3. It’s a stupid idea holding the event in the current situation.
    Should just be canceled

  4. Why are using the American date system for all your articles? I queried this a month ago with the Editor, but have had no reply.
