Jasmine Nugent - christmas card competition

A design by a five-year-old schoogirl has been chosen as the winner of Crewe & Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan’s Christmas Card design competition.

Jasmine Nugent, a pupil at Dingle Primary School in Haslington, entered her painting of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as her design.

Three runner up designs will also feature on the inside of the card.

The runner up designs were created by Mesha Lea, 12, from Sir William Stanier School, Xanthe Lewis, 10, from Bridgemere C Of E Primary School, and Riley Houston, 11, from Wistaston Academy Primary School.

Dr Kieran Mullan MP said: “All the designs were fantastic but Jasmine’s Rudolph captured a lot of people’s imagination!

“We had more than 1,000 votes in total on Facebook and on the website.

“Well done to our winner and runners up and to everyone that entered.

“Christmas is difficult this year, so it is great to have the whole community getting into the Christmas spirit and giving local schoolchildren a chance to see their designs being sent to the Prime Minister and others as their MPs official card.”

Mum Andrea said: “Thank you for all of the votes Jasmine’s card received.

“All the cards were fantastic.

“Art and especially painting has helped her so much through some difficult situations lockdown has imposed.

“This is a wonderful boost and she is very happy and excited.

“Mummy and Daddy are exceptionally proud of her.”

As well as the design for the official MP’s card, an additional 250 are being made available to the public to raise donations for CVS Cheshire East Christmas Toy Appeal 2020 which benefits charities in Crewe and Nantwich.
