Kevin the Minion stolen from Stapeley garden

Despicable thieves have swiped a popular model of a Minion from a Nantwich family’s front garden.

Rob Cooper made “Kevin” the flower planter about four years ago from an old scrap gas bottle.

And the “Despicable Me” film character has been keeping youngsters and parents amused ever since Rob placed it in his front garden on Chadwicke Close in Stapeley.

Now thieves have spoiled the fun by swiping Kevin – and they are appealing for help to try and get him back.

Rob said: “The idea came from the children’s film Despicable Me… it’s made as a flower planter for the garden.

“Along the front of our house is a public footpath, so we thought it would be a good idea to place him on our front garden so that lots of children can see him.

“He’s been on the front for about two years with no trouble.

“Over the past 24 hours I have had many messages saying how many children loved stopping to look and talk to their parents about it.

“We just want our Minion returning home so he can be loved by all again.

“My youngest son James who is six is pretty upset.

“We’ve been out a few times to see if he’s been returned.

“We’re not sure when it was taken as we don’t use our front door very often so could of been a couple of weeks.

“Our neighbour said last night that her friend was asking where it had gone last week.”

The “Despicable Me” family film, released in 2010, was a massive hit and led to two sequels in 2013 and 2017, as well as a spin-off film “Minions” in 2015.
