A van driver has been arrested after careering off a country lane near Nantwich and crashing into a house.
The incident happened last night (June 10) on Cock Lane in Broomhall, near Nantwich.
The van overturned after ploughing through a brick wall and into the side of a detached property.
Police, paramedics and fire crews from Nantwich were called out at around 11.45pm to the scene.
Cheshire Police confirmed today the van driver, from Nantwich, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
A polies spokesperson said: “At 11.45pm on Tuesday 10 June, police were called to reports of a collision on Cock Lane, Broomhall.
“Officers attended the scene and on arrival they found a white transit van had collided with a house.
“There were no reports of any serious injuries, but the driver of the car was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
“The driver of the van, a 36-year-old man from Nantwich, was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving, he remains in custody at this time.”
A Cheshire Fire spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a van which had left the road and crashed through a brick wall and into a detached house.
“The van had overturned on its side but the occupant had got themselves out prior to our arrival. Police closed the road while the incident was dealt with.
“Paramedics were also on the scene checking over the driver.
“Fire crews made sure the vehicle and scene were safe and left the incident with the homeowner to arrange for a structural engineer to assess the property.”

Fortunately this time, no one was hurt.
I also would have loved to hear the 999 call, where the driver must have had to admit that they flipped their van over on Cock Lane. If it didn’t sink in then, well it never will for these people.
Needs stricter laws and regular DVLA tests for drivers of high powered vehicles.

Every single accident round Cheshire East is either a white work Van or a Motorbike/moped, or both of them colliding together.
Why do the most stupid people in our society drive in such a way that is a danger to others, and put others at risk by drink driving?
I will add HGV drivers and tractor drivers into the mix. Using village roads as racetracks, cutting blind country road bends, and going 40 everywhere. They know their vehicle isn’t the one which is going to be damaged if an accident occurs, and its not their personal vehicle which they own either.
I guess the only ironic thing about this is that the incident occurred on Cock Lane. Rather fitting, for the van driver.
