pear tree book donation

Pupils at Pear Tree Primary in Stapeley have benefited from a donation of new books to mark “National Share a Story Month”.

The school received a diverse selection of non-fiction books from local house builder David Wilson Homes.

Leanie O’Connor, Year Five Teacher at Pear Tree Primary School, said: “We just want to say a huge thank you to David Wilson Homes for this kind donation.

“The books are a fabulous selection and will enhance our reading curriculum for all children across the school.”

Co-ordinated by The Federation of Children’s Book Groups, National Share a Story Month is an annual celebration of the power of storytelling and story sharing.

It aims to provide an opportunity to bring children and stories together.

David Wilson Homes made the donation to the school which is close to the new Maylands Park development in Stapeley.

The selection of books will cater to a number of the younger pupils at the school, with titles such as ‘The Big Book of the Blue’ by Yuval Zommer, ‘Slow Down’ by Rachel Williams, ‘All Through the Night’ by Polly Faber, and ‘Look What I Found on the Farm’ by Moira Butterfield.

Claire Jarvis, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “National Share a Story Month is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, and we are delighted to support Pear Tree Primary School by enhancing its reading resources.

“We hope our donation will inspire more young people to pick up a book, develop a lifelong love of reading, and enjoy getting lost in a great story.”
