CEC leader calls on Government help over social care funding crisis

Cheshire East Council’s leader said the government needs to take responsibility for social care at a time when the council is facing massive budgetary pressures and has low reserves.

Cllr Sam Corcoran (Lab) was speaking after Sutton councillor Chris O’Leary (Con) questioned the council’s “raid on reserves” to balance the books last year.

A Nantwich shopper has donated thousands of CDs and books to the town’s Oxfam store in Pepper Street. The huge bequest was made by a long-standing customer of the shop, which specialises in music and literature.
