Nantwich police officers have raised issues of anti-social behaviour in the town during a visit by MP Connor Naismith and Crime Commissioner Dan Price.
They took a walk around the town with Nantwich Police Sgt Matt Stonier, when they also visited Nantwich Youth and Community Centre.
The youth centre received a slice of Mr Price’s SWAP Summer Support Fund and is using the grant to provide day trips and a second youth rock festival at the Birchin Lane venue.
The Fund works alongside a wider government Safer Streets Summer Initiative being rolled out across 500 town centres in the UK.
Both Crewe and Nantwich are signed up to the programme.
Mr Naismith and Mr Price met two outreach workers at the youth centre, who help to support and onboard young people in the area.
The Crewe & Nantwich MP said: “Tackling antisocial behaviour is a recurring issue for many across Cheshire, and in Crewe and Nantwich.
“I am grateful that our local police force and the national government is taking a hands-on approach, alongside Dan, to tackle the root causes of antisocial behaviour by redirecting people – especially young people – away from criminal behaviour and towards activities for personal and social development.
“It’s absolutely right that this support comes from within the community. We know that vulnerable people work best with those that they trust.
“That’s why schemes like the Safer Streets Summer Initiative and Dan’s SWAP Fund are so vital, in helping foster the relationship between the police, young people, and local community-led organisations.
“The government’s Crime and Policing Bill has likewise introduced a range of measures to help our officers to tackle anti-social behaviour when it does transpire, alongside 13,000 new officers.”

Customary Waffle from MP/Politician Naismith but don’t let’s hold our breath hoping for ‘Tangible’ measures to make us all feel safe walking the streets after dark?….
