Fire crews from Nantwich were called to battle a blaze which was out of control and spreading to trees and bushes.

The fire started on Sandy Lane in Bickerton and two appliances from Nantwich and Powey Lane as well as a rapid response rescue unit were called out.

It started at around 1pm on Sunday (August 10) and crews were there until just before 5pm.

A Cheshire Fire Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to a controlled burn which had got out of control and spread to nearby trees and shrubbery.

“The area affected by fire measured around 25 by 10 metres.

“Firefighters used hose reel jets to dampen down unaffected areas to avoid any further spread, as well as tackling the flames.”
