Waterlode closed by police in Nantwich after accident

A man has been seriously injured after being in collision with an e-bike in Nantwich, police have confirmed.

The incident happened on Waterlode last night, which led to police closing off the road.

The collision involved a 59-year-old pedestrian and someone riding a black Sur-Ron e-bike.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains at this time.

The rider of the e-bike, a 20-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is in custody.

Sergeant Andrew Dennison said: “We are now appealing for any witnesses to get in touch with us.

“The same goes for those who may have any dashcam footage of what happened.

“You can contact Cheshire Police via 101 or www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML-2169670.”

The incident is the latest involving an e-bike in the town and surrounding area.

Cheshire Police vowed to tackle e-bike offenders “robustly” after one man was arrested and charged last month amid reports of illegal e-bikers riding around the Mill Street and Barony Park areas of Nantwich.

  1. These bikes and those that ride them are an absolute scourge. The Police need to get a grip on this before more are seriously injured or killed. The frequent the King’s Shilling Way that runs parallel to Alveston hall as they use it as a ‘motor way’

  2. Dont need dash cam,.obvious what happened. Youths riding these eBikes not designed for UK, way to fast for kids with no licensing. Pretty obvious these are going to become more often until they are brought in line with mopeds etc
