Sophie Ellis-Bextor to visit Applestump Records in Nantwich - poster (1)

Pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor is heading to Nantwich on Sunday (Sept 14) for a special album signing at the new Applestump Records store.

She will be at the store on Oat Market between 5pm and 6pm, giving fans a chance to meet her in person and get their records signed.

The signing comes a day earlier than originally planned, after a change to Sophie’s record shop tour.

But organisers say Sunday is a great result as it gives more fans a chance to join the celebration.

The visit marks the release of Sophie’s new album, Perimenopop – her eighth studio album.

She first shot to fame in the early 2000s with disco-pop anthems including Murder on the Dancefloor and the No.1 hit Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love).

Since then she has become a firm favourite in British pop culture with her distinctive voice, genre-spanning albums, and energetic live shows.

She also ran hugely popular Kitchen Disco livestreams during Covid lockdown, and is a busy mum of five, a podcast host, memoirist, and a familiar face on TV.

Applestump founder Steve Cook said: “One thing I’m really proud about is the company we’re keeping on this tour – shops like HMV on London’s Oxford Street.

“Seeing Nantwich up there alongside London, Birmingham and Manchester really feels like we’re helping put our town on the map.

“We’ve always believed music can bring people together, and this is what it’s all about.

“It’s going to be such a fun day – we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”

  1. Good to see Applestump doing so well , they’re a real bonus for Nantwich especially the big name signings they seem to pull. Wish they’d been a dedicated music shop back in my day. I remember having to cycle to Crewe market for any records. Well done.
