A woman suffered a broken arm in an incident with a dog by the canal in Acton, Nantwich.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident on the canal towpath near to the marina bridge.

A man described as in his 50s wearing brown clothing was walking a large black Labrador off the lead.

After initially passing the woman, the dog turned and ran back to her and jumped up, caused her to fall to the floor.

The victim fractured her elbow in the fall, which happened at around 2pm on Saturday 29th November.

A Nantwich Police spokesperson said: “If you witnessed the incident or know the male involved please contact 101 quoting reference 25001019236.”

A few years ago a dog jumped up at me there I was passing a large group with dogs very close to the water, I almost fell in.
I thought at the time the 50 yr old dog owner was careless and he wasn’t interested at all, what had just occurred just swore and walked on
Later I contacted the canal people and the council to complain there really should be signs up to warn about how stupid it can be to let a dog loose near water
Nothing has been done now this poor woman
I would be having a word again with these canal authorities
    Sheer incompetence

  2. Typical close minded Nantwich people. Ban all dogs unless they are on a lead rather than actually dealing with owners who do not control their dogs. The owner should be dealt with, twice as much if he didn’t attend to the lady in question.

  3. Timothy Hewardine says:

Too many dogs off lead and out of control in Nantwich. Far better standard of care and guardianship shown every time in Crewe.

  4. dogs should not be off lead in public places full stop. too many come running and jumping up at people. can scratch or knock someone over far too easily especially a child. its no better than assault and the owner should be dealt with accordingly.

  5. shocking, you need to pay at a dog paddock if you want the luxury of your mutt running free, the park is a space for all including wildlife, such owner entitlement its disgusting hope she takes the moron to court
