A festive charity album created by South Cheshire musicians has raised more than £400 for RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange wildlife centre.

Christmas Tails, released in November and on sale until the end of January, has raised an impressive £411.29 for the London Road centre, beating the total raised by a similar Christmas album in 2023.

The album was coordinated by talented Crewe musician and artist Mark Sheeky, who once again brought the local music community together for a good cause.

In total, 23 digital albums and 14 CDs were sold, with an additional £94.50 raised at a live event at Crewe Library.

Christmas Tails features original festive songs written and recorded especially for the album by a dozen bands and solo artists from across South Cheshire and beyond.

Recording under the collective name The Electric Sprout Foundation, the contributors delivered a wide mix of styles, from gentle folk and catchy pop to upbeat rock.

Artists on the album include Andrew Williams, Fall in Green, Glyn Roberts, John Lindley, John Miller, Nastee Chapel, Paul Parish, The Forrest Dick Band, The Shaw Sisters, We Are Nomad, and Mark Sheeky himself.

Album organiser Mark said: “This project shows what can happen when a local creative community pulls together.

“Everyone involved donated their time and talent, and knowing the money is helping animals in need makes it even more special.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the support the album received.”

A spokesperson for RSPCA Stapeley Grange added: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in Christmas Tails for choosing to support our centre.

“Every donation helps us care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as our cats and kittens that are waiting for their forever homes.

“It’s wonderful to see the local community coming together through music to make such a positive difference for animals in need.”

All proceeds from Christmas Tails have gone directly to RSPCA Stapeley Grange, which provides vital care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as cats and kittens needing new homes across Cheshire, North Wales and surrounding areas.

As one of only four RSPCA wildlife centres in the UK, the charity plays a crucial role in animal rescue.

A cheque for £411.29 was presented to RSPCA Stapeley Grange in early February, turning festive tunes into real-world help for animals in need.
