Youngsters from Stapeley Broad Lane School in Nantwich have teamed up with police to deliver a powerful road safety message.
Pupils joined local officers as part of the #TheKidsAreWatching initiative in Nantwich.
PC Millie Smith led a team of officers carrying out speed checks outside the school on the busy Audlem Road, taking a unique and educational approach to enforcement.
Instead of receiving traditional penalties, drivers found exceeding the speed limit were given a chance to hear directly from the pupils about the importance of safe driving.
Ten drivers were stopped during the operation, with each one engaging in conversations with the children about their driving.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many motorists saying the experience would have a lasting impact.
Drivers said hearing first-hand from young people would make them more conscious of their speed and encourage them to drive more carefully in the future.
Headteacher Jen Holden said pupils approached the initiative with “enthusiasm and determination” asking thoughtful questions and “clearly communicating the importance of road safety outside their school”.
She added: “Their involvement turned the event into a powerful learning experience for both the children and the drivers.
“The initiative was a huge success and pupils were true agents of change in promoting safer driving habits and keeping our community safe for all.”
Nantwich Police Confirmed more #TheKidsAreWatching events are planned with schools across the Nantwich area.
