Volunteers for Nantwich in Bloom are celebrating after scooping a Gold at the North West in Bloom Awards last night (October 31).
They won Gold in the “Large Town” category, continuing a long tradition of winning awards for many years.
It’s the second consecutive year Nantwich has won in the “Large Town” category, in just two years since it moved up to that category.
It’s the 16th time Nantwich has scooped Gold across all past categories.
Mark Betteley, Nantwich in Bloom committee chair, said: “We were up against places such as Altrincham and Congleton with bigger budgets so the competition was tough.
“But thanks to our volunteers and an amazing town effort we were thrilled to win Gold again.”
Judges not only look at the quality of floral displays, but the overall town appearance and efforts towards sustainability.
Nantwich in Bloom works closely with other community organisations Sustainable Nantwich, the Rotary and Civic Society to tick all the boxes.
Nantwich in Bloom volunteers are currently removing plants to over-winter for next season while planting bulbs for spring colour.
Mark added: “It’s quite something to win 16 times and we thank townspeople for their effort and hope this success underlines the huge sense of pride we feel for living in such a beautiful town.”
The In Bloom teams work throughout the year to bring colour to the town centre, with grant support from Nantwich Town Council.
