Members of Nantwich Walking Football Club hosted a “football and food” fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Players Kate Rose and Nicky Glover organised the event at the club’s home ground at The Vagrants on Newcastle Road, Willaston.
They decided to pull their two passions together and hold a post game barbecue for members to raise funds for the cause.
The Vagrants supported the event by allowing the clubhouse facilities to be used at no extra cost.
Other walking football club members and their partners stepped forward and brought home made side dishes.
A club spokesperson said: “I went back for seconds and thirds, but after that I stopped because I didn’t want to appear greedy!”
Kate and Nicky raised a healthy amount which was then topped up by club funds to total £134.67 with further donations pledged post event towards Cancer Research.
