The Secretary of State has backed Cheshire East Council’s Local Plan and dismissed a developer’s appeal to build 900 homes on a golf course.

The controversial scheme was for a mixed-use development including up to 900 new homes on the former Gorsty Hill golf course, near Crewe.

A charity ball is being planned to help the family of battling youngster Lewis Crossley in his fight against a rare cancer.

Lewis, of Hough, near Shavington, was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and has undergone challenging treatments including multiple courses of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

A ten-day-old seal pup is being looked after by RSPCA staff in Nantwich after being rescued from a beach.

The orphaned pup, named Jon Snow after the Game of Thrones character, was found alone and hungry by walkers in North Wales.
