LETTER: Concerns ahead of A51 Reaseheath Bypass opening

Dear Editor
I am writing to express my concerns ahead of the imminent opening of the long-delayed A51 Reaseheath bypass road.

After years of postponements, the road is now expected to open in June 2026 — more than four years later than originally planned, with the scheme initially due for completion in February 2022.

LETTER: How much countryside must be lost before residents are heard?

Dear Editor
How much countryside must disappear before local residents are finally listened to?

Like many people in Wistaston, I am absolutely furious at the proposed “Crewe West” development and the apparent willingness of Cheshire East Council to wave through the destruction of yet more green farmland for the benefit of a major developer.

LETTER: Brownfield first to protect our green belt

Dear Editor,
I am writing to express growing concern over the increasing threat to Cheshire’s green belt and open countryside as housing developers continue to target greenfield land ahead of suitable brownfield sites.

LETTER: Please don’t panic buy fuel!

LETTER: Please don’t panic buy fuel!

Dear Editor
I’m writing to urge readers across our community to think carefully before joining the rush to fill up their cars amid the current concerns around fuel.

Understandably, people are worried. Ongoing global tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel have raised fears about oil supplies, particularly with disruption around key routes like the Strait of Hormuz.

Dear Editor,
Council Officers who do not take action in a reasonable time, on reported hazards in their area, like potholes and diseased trees, should go to jail if those hazards result in severe injury or death.

LETTER: Tories would send RAF to bomb Iran

LETTER: Tories would send RAF to bomb Iran

Dear Editor,
Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu’s aircraft rain down bombs and missiles on Iran, killing thousands of Iranians including at a school where 170 schoolgirls were killed by a US missile because of faulty American intelligence linking the site to the country’s governing regime.

LETTER: Impressed with new toucan crossing at Peacock

Dear Editor
I would like to offer some well-deserved praise to Cheshire East Council for the completion of the new toucan crossing at the Peacock roundabout — a notoriously busy junction with fast-moving traffic.

LETTER: Concern over loss of M&S coffee shop toilets

LETTER: Concern over loss of M&S coffee shop toilets

Dear Editor
As a regular shopper in Nantwich town centre, I feel compelled to express my deep concern about the decision by Marks & Spencer to close the café at its Beam Street Foodhall — and, crucially, to remove the adjacent customer toilets at the same time.

LETTER: Risks of HyNet carbon capture will fall on taxpayers

LETTER: Risks of HyNet carbon capture will fall on taxpayers

Dear Editor,
It sounds like common sense that if global warming is caused by too much carbon in the atmosphere, we should remove that carbon.

If we stop producing more carbon and get existing carbon out of the air, then global warming will be under control.

Cheshire East have dropped plans to build a school on the site of the historic, Art Deco, 1937 Crewe Baths.

LETTER: What budget will new Cheshire devolved authority have?

Dear Editor,
I have just perused CEC’s website and looked at the Devolution sections.

It is certainly cracking on at a pace even though the latest report to the Shadow Authority Board on 30th January amounted to 218 pages, single, and with a few blank separation spacers.
