The 26th annual ‘Audlem Festival of Transport’ was hailed another huge success as thousands lined the streets.

It featured a parade of more than 250 cars, commercial vehicles, tractors and motorcycles.

Villagers were left shocked today when they saw their local community pub closed down and boarded up without notice.

The Lamb pub on Wistaston Road in Willaston had its front windows boarded up by workmen, leaving the village short of another vital community asset.

Councillors give go ahead for 80-bed care home in Stapeley

Cheshire East councillors have given the go-ahead for an 80-bed care home on Maylands Park described as the “final piece of the jigsaw” in the Nantwich development.

The decision comes two months after permission was granted for 40 homes and a 49-apartment retirement living scheme as part of the phase two development of the site, which is off Peter De Stapleigh Way at Stapeley.

Mobile HWRC to be launched for Wrenbury and Audlem residents

More mobile household waste recycling centres are to be introduced in September, including one for the Wrenbury and Audlem area.

Cheshire East Council said that from September 1st, mobile HWRC will be expanded to cover areas where residents are either more than a 20-minute drive of a HWRC site or in an area where incidents of fly-tipping are high.

Acton Primary School pupils have been crowned winners of a composting competition which aims to help students rethink food waste.

Sixteen schools entered the “Small hands, big impact” competition which invited pupils to learn about composting and recycle their food and garden waste.

Martin and Simon Poole have applied for “permission in principle” to build up to six homes on land off Bridge Street.

Fire crews had to cut the trapped motorist free at around 11.10pm and paramedics attended to give treatment before taking them to hospital.
