Nantwich’s roads will be maintained by a different company after Cheshire East Council unveiled its new approach to servicing the area’s highways. A new fleet of gritting vehicles, roadwork updates via Twitter and savings of more than £1 million a year are being promised by the council.
New street signs are to be erected at a Willaston cul-de-sac after residents’ complained their bins were not being collected. The new signs will go up for The Fields, off Cheerbrook Road, Willaston, in the next few weeks, Cheshire East Council has confirmed. Cllr Brian Silvester (pictured), who represents Willaston and Rope, welcomed the news.
Nantwich outdoor pool was closed today (September 15) due to a burst pipe – on one of the warmest days of the month. Swimmers are being advised by staff that it is unlikely to be repaired today. Registered childminders in Nantwich will get a chance to meet Cheshire East Council’s family information service later this month. During the session at Nantwich Children’s Centre (pictured), childminders can learn how to promote themselves by providing a list of their services, like school pick-ups in a certain geographical area.
A memorial is to be erected in honour of six men killed while disarming German bombs in a field near Nantwich. The men, from the Royal Engineers, had safely disarmed three of the bombs found close to Alvaston Hall, Nantwich.
An ePetition calling for a 20mph speed limit on all residential streets in Nantwich has just one week left to run. The petition, which is currently posted on the Cheshire East Council website, says lower traffic speed limits will improve lives of many in the town.
