Trainspotters and photographers have been warned not to risk their lives trying to photograph the world’s most famous steam locomotive when it comes to South Cheshire.
Flying Scotsman will haul the luxury Northern Belle train from Crewe to Carnforth on Saturday July 20.
Nantwich-based Northern Belle, one of the world’s most luxurious trains, has appointed former general manager Jeanette Snape to be its new managing director.
And among her first moves has been to arrange for the Flying Scotsman, the world’s most famous steam locomotive, to haul four special excursions from Crewe and Manchester this summer.
Train fans gathered in their hundreds in Crewe today to see the iconic Flying Scotsman steaming into Cheshire.
The famous locomotive set out from Crewe station before travelling across North Wales to Holyhead.
Self-confessed Crewe train spotter and TV programme maker David Parker returns to the town this month to give an illustrated talk on his new programme, “Flying Scotsman and the Golden Age of Steam”.
And on stage at Crewe Lyceum with David will be special guest Bryan Skellon, a retired Crewe Works railway engineer whose book of memories Inside Crewe Works is published in September.
World famous steam locomotive Flying Scotsman cruised in to South Cheshire to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Crewe Heritage Centre.
Members of the public could see Flying Scotsman at close-hand and Flying Scotsman merchandise was available for purchase.
