Cheshire Police are encouraging people to report ‘Hate Crime’.
“A hate incident is any incident which the victim, or anyone else, thinks is based on someone’s prejudice towards them because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or because they are transgender.”
A Willaston councillor has officially complained to Cheshire Police after being told to wait FIVE days before giving a statement about a homophobic assault he suffered.
Cllr Craig Bailey has written to Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner, saying the response shows a “lack of seriousness in tackling hate crime.
A new scheme to highlight the growing problem of hate crime in Cheshire has been awarded funding. The Central Cheshire Buddies Scheme wants to raise awareness of hate crime through a project called “This is Me”.
