Two of Nantwich’s top sporting talents have teamed up off the pitch – after being recruited by the same employer. Nantwich CC batsman Jonny Kettle and Nantwich Town defender Mat Bailey are now working together at County Insurance Consultants.
Nantwich CC 1st XI clinched their second successive Cheshire County Premier League title with a six-wicket victory over Toft at a jubilant Whitehouse Lane. Nantwich captain Andrew Newton put the visitors into bat knowing the hosts needed just two points to retain the league crown.
Nantwich CC need just two more points to clinch a second successive league title after both they and rivals Chester drew their penultimate games. Nantwich went to Alderley edge and were in control throughout the match. Only a defiant last wicket stand by the hosts prevented Nantwich clinching victory and all the points.
Nantwich CC have reached the final of the Cheshire Cup with a convincing semi-final win over Widnes. Batting first Nantwich scored 231 with RayDoyle (76) and Glen Batticciotto (68) leading the way.
Nantwich CC took a giant stride towards retaining the Cheshire County Premier League title with victory over nearest rivals Chester Boughton Hall. With just five poitns separating top of the table Nantwich and their visitors, it was a crucial clash for both sides at Whitehouse Lane.
