Plans to convert the former gasworks site off St Anne’s Lane in Nantwich to a private car park have finally been approved by Cheshire East Council.
The brownfield site, once earmarked for the ambitious Vision for Nantwich mixed use redevelopment, had previously received outline planning permission for a scheme that included apartments, a hotel, restaurants and boutique retail units.

Minister of State for Rail and HS2 Huw Merriman MP has visited Crewe to discuss the key challenges and opportunities for regeneration in the town.
Cheshire East Council secured commitments from HS2 Ltd and the Government earlier this year which it’s hoped will provide a better outcome for Cheshire East and its communities from the arrival of High Speed Rail.
Crewe Market Hall will reopen today (May 19) following a £3m refurbishment with a line-up of traders ready to welcome customers through the doors.
The historic building has been transformed as part of Cheshire East Council’s town centre regeneration programme.

The Crewe HS2 regeneration project took a major step forward after councillors approved a host of proposals at cabinet.
Cheshire East councillors voted to submit a town investment plan and bid to the government for a slice of the towns fund — as well as commission “detailed designs for Crewe Hub Station”.
