Peter Rabbit straw sculture on fire at Snugburys

Fire has destroyed the popular large straw sculpture of Peter Rabbit at Snugburys in Hurleston, Nantwich.

The fire broke out earlier today, sending plumes of smoke over the nearby A51.

It’s not clear at this stage what caused the fire, which started at around 5.40pm today.

A fire crew from Nantwich was called out to tackle the blaze.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire said: “We were called to a fire involving a 10ft high straw Peter Rabbit figure.

“It was well alight, so firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.”
