Dave Johns - best in stand up

‘The Very Best In Stand Up’ returns to Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday May 3 with another top bill of comedy.

The first act of the evening is Dave Johns (pictured), one of the most respected and best loved stand up comics working on the British comedy circuit.

He is a multi-award winning film actor, accomplished stage actor and improvisor.

He has appeared on the West End stage and is best known for his breakthrough role in Ken Loach’s critically acclaimed film ‘I, Daniel Blake’ which won the coveted Palme D’Or Award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Dave has also written for stage and radio.

Nick Doody has been performing comedy since the 90s when, as a student, he got off to a pretty good start by supporting the legendary Bill Hicks, at Bill’s request.

A little later, Nick was a finalist in Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny? competition.

Since then he has performed all over the world – Ireland, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Estonia.

He was the first British comedian to perform in Croatia.

Nick has appeared on various radio and TV shows, and is also much in demand as a writer.

He has penned jokes for Joan Rivers, Lenny Henry, Dame Edna Everage and an uncomfortable number of Mock The Week regulars.

Last up is Christian Reilly. One of the country’s top headline comedians, Christian has garnered a reputation for barnstorming performances which leaves audiences on a laugh packed high.

As former integral part of the Perrier award-winning show Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars, with comic/songster Rich Hall, Christian’s career has taken him around the world three times.

On his way, he received accolades at international festivals and numerous network TV credits in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Britain.

Compere and host for the evening is the fantastic Phil Walker, who offers a little bit of something for everyone.

His comedy style is relaxed, fun and easy to get into with his northern banter and amusing anecdotes.

As a result he won City Life Comedian of the Year 2020 (previous winners include Peter Kay, Steve Coogan, John Bishop and Jason Manford).

TV appearances include Talking Telephone Numbers (ITV1), Live at Jongleurs (Paramount), The Big Stage (Channel 5).

He also happens to be the son of comedy legend Roy Walker and is just as funny as his dad but with a modern twist!

Tickets are on sale priced £10, available from the Civic Hall direct or from www.civiccomedy.co.uk

Doors open at 7.15pm and the show starts at 8.15pm.
