Nantwich Town manager Jon Moran has stepped down from his position as first team boss, the club has announced.
Moran informed the club of his decision before the Dabbers New Year’s Day clash with Stafford Rangers, which they won 6-1.
He said: “This hasn’t been an easy decision, as everyone knows what this club and its supporters mean to me and my family.
“I am incredibly grateful and privileged to have been given the opportunity to manage my boyhood club at such a young age.
“And while I understand results have not been as consistent as we all would have liked this season, the support that myself and my management team have received from the supporters, players and board has been unwavering and for this I will be eternally grateful.
“This has been an incredible journey, and we have created some memorable moments together, from which I have learned a great deal.
“I am excited for the next step in my journey as I plan to continue my personal development as a coach.
“I will always offer the club my support in whatever shape or form that may be.
“On behalf of myself, my management team and my family, thank you sincerely for all of your belief and incredible support. I will always be a Dabber, and no one can take that away from me.”
Nantwich Town Chairman Jon Gold said: “Whilst this isn’t the outcome that any of us wanted, we fully support Jon’s decision.
“He is one of the youngest managers ever in the NPL and a fantastic coach and leader, a real class act and he epitomises what Nantwich Town is all about.
“I firmly believe he has an exciting and successful future ahead of him, both in life and football, as he has all of the attributes needed to be a top coach and manager.
“We are all thankful for the contribution that he has made to our Football Club as both a player and manager over the past 12 years, and I am confident that he will go on to make even more in future and we thank him and his team sincerely and wish him the very best for the future.”
The club says the first team will be taken on an interim basis by Jon’s assistant Marc Feighery while discussions regarding a permanent replacement take place.
