Crewe Table Tennis League delivered an action-packed evening at its annual Crewe Championships Finals Night at the Bob Hope Academy in Nantwich.

More than 40 spectators watched a packed schedule of finals, cheering on players across a wide range of age groups and categories.

The event highlighted the league’s competitive edge and the club’s community spirit.

Will Anderton claimed the Cadets title, while Callum Marquis took top honours in the Juniors.

Wai Ming Tai secured victory in the Open Singles, overcoming Adam Stanway in the final.

In the veterans’ categories, Phil Barnish triumphed in the 40s Singles, Steve Addis won the 60s crown, and Paul Dunning added to his tally with victory in the 70s Singles.

Dunning also featured in the doubles events, partnering Ian Austin to win the 60s Doubles and teaming up with 86-year-old Mel Green to take the 70s Doubles title.

The Open Doubles crown went to Callum Tizard and Kev Foster, while Foster doubled up on the night with another win alongside Martin Shaw in the 40s Doubles.

Earlier finals saw Liam Stockton take the Under-13 Singles title, while Will Anderton and Max Rosenbaum combined to win the Junior Doubles.

A spokesperson for the league said: “Finals Night was a fantastic celebration of the talent and dedication across our league.

“We’d like to congratulate all of our finalists and winners for putting on such a great show, and thank everyone who came along to support.

“We would also like to thank the club for organising and hosting such a fabulous event.

“The club is always delighted to welcome new players of any age or ability, so if you’d like to give table tennis a go, we’d love to see you at the club.”

The Crewe League was founded in 1933 and has provided a chance for players to play the sport competitively ever since.

Crewe Central Table Tennis Club was founded in 2012 and is based in Nantwich at the Bob Hope Academy, Regents Park.

It boasts more than 100 participants with around 30% aged under 18.

It’s open to players of all ages and abilities and is part of the Table Tennis England Premier Club Programme and holds a 1* rating, alongside Sport England Clubmark accreditation.
