Art and Handwriting entries (1)

Children across Nantwich were celebrated for their creativity and talent at the Rotary Club of Nantwich Primary Schools Art and Handwriting Competition prizegiving.

The awards ceremony took place at Nantwich Museum where Rotary Club of Nantwich Past President Rod Stokes joined Nantwich Mayor Cllr Kim Jamson to present prizes to the young winners.

More than 1,000 entries were submitted by pupils from 11 local primary schools, showcasing impressive artistic flair and beautifully presented handwriting.

The art competition entries were judged by the Wistaston Art Appreciation Group, while handwriting expert Frances Passmore had the difficult task of selecting the top handwriting entries from an exceptionally high standard of work.

Teachers, parents, friends and family packed the museum to cheer on the children as the winners were announced.

Silver medals were awarded to 28 pupils representing the strongest entries from each participating school.

Gold medals and £25 gift vouchers were presented to the best overall entries in each category.

Top awards went to pupils from:
• Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School (Key Stage 1 Handwriting – Kaira Shanbhougue)
• Weaver Primary School (Key Stage 2 Handwriting Daniel Griffin)
• Willaston Primary Academy (Key Stage 1 Art – Raffie Astbury)
• Nantwich Academy Primary School (Key Stage 2 Art Molly Parris)

Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School also received a special £100 prize for achieving the best overall standard across both the art and handwriting categories.

Rod Stokes said: “The imagination, effort and confidence shown by the children has been absolutely fantastic.

“Every year we are amazed by the quality of the entries, and it’s wonderful to see so many young people expressing themselves creatively.

“We hope the whole community will come along to the museum and enjoy the exhibition.”

The children’s artwork and handwriting entries will remain on public display at Nantwich Museum until Saturday June 6th.
