Full-time - Dabbers captain Troy Bourne thanks the fans (1)

Defender Troy Bourne has agreed to rejoin Nantwich Town after a season at Warrington Town.

Bourne, 28, made 304 appearances over a 10-year period for the Dabbers after making his senior debut in November 2015 at just 17 years old.

He went on to become club captain as well as scoring numerous important goals in historic fixtures for the Dabbers, claiming almost every award available at the end of season awards over his time.

Last summer he left the Swansway Stadium for Warrington and a move back to the NPL Premier Division where he spent much of his career competing in the Dabbers shirt.

Bourne said: “I’m delighted to be back at Nantwich Town.

“After spending 10 great years at the club, it has always felt like home, and I’m excited to be part of the next chapter.

“The club, the people around it and the fans have played a huge part in my football journey, so it’s great to be back.

“I’ve had some really positive conversations with Luke about the direction the club is heading in, and it’s something I wanted to be part of.”

Dabbers manager Luke Goddard said: “Troy became available and initially the conversation was more a general one to see where he was at, but it quickly became aligned that it was a right fit and he was on board with the direction and changes we wish to drive over the coming years.

“He was always going to return one day, some will be surprised at the timing but selfishly at just 28 years old I’m glad it’s happening now rather than in six years’ time.

“I feel we can help rediscover the best version of Troy Bourne of a few seasons back who still has all the attributes to play in the National League.

“We want an ambition, a winning culture, not just the easy option to be at Nantwich and after our discussions he was wanting to play a big part in bringing back some exciting times for the club, its supporters and all involved.

“And again we are gaining loyalty and an individual who cares for the club, match that with the right mentality for success and we will begin to push the football club forward together.”
