land for new car wash nantwich - google maps pic

Plans for a new car wash on land close to Nantwich Town’s ground and neighbouring properties have been refused by Cheshire East planners.

The proposals sparked concerns among resident, with 34 lodging official objections to the proposal earmarked for land which is used as an overspill car park on match days.

Thirteen members of the public, many living further afield, also wrote to Cheshire East Council in support of the scheme.

But CEC planners confirmed they have rejected the plans on open land at the westerly junction of Waterlode and Reaseheath Way.

They said it would have too much of a visual impact, lead to noise and disturbance, and result in loss of important parking spaces.

In a decision notice, Cheshire East Council planners said: “The proposal by reason of its location adjacent to residential properties is considered to be unacceptable and would have an adverse impact on the living conditions of the neighbouring properties through noise and disturbance.

“The proposal by reason of siting and design would result in visual harm from the proposed buildings and would also result in a visual intensification of the site, the combination of which would cause significant visual harm to the character/appearance of the area.

“The proposal would result in the loss of the existing overflow parking spaces which would displace vehicles onto the high resulting in severe highway safety impacts which would be particularly felt during match/event days.”

As reported by Nantwich News, the original plans were submitted back in April.

…it would be helpful to understand the waste water treatment and filtration techniques. The planning application was absent in this regard with any detail, and also on the how the status of the waterbodies the effluent flows in to would be protected as a result of the development or alternatives to environmental discharge. The correct decision has been made.

  2. I’m afraid those who have commented know very little about this high quality scheme. From water filtering to acoustic fencing – this was being done to ensure the best experience for all parties. The joke of it is/was that someone could just rock up with some cheap labour and start cleaning cars without any planning permission, as a temporary venue, and I don’t think the council would do anything.

  3. something fishy here, why of all the places in the town would you select the entrance to a housing estate? it is hardly a fit, when there are plenty of hand washing car companies who clean cars to a very high standard on your own drive. there would be more job vacancies that way and far less intrusion to peoples lives than having a commercial outfit at the bottom of your rd

  4. I find it astounding that the planning refusal notice makes No mention of the potential. For pollution to the stream that feeds the River Weaver. The guidance from Government is clear in that waste from car washes should NOT be discharged into the environment.
Cheshire East Planning – please do your job correctly and reference ALL of the legislation and guidance correctly!
