The incident happened at an address in the Barony Park area after a home owner alerted the authorities when he become concerned they were being scammed.

Councillors could call in Cheshire East wheelie bin charges

Councillors are expected to call in a controversial decision by Cheshire East Council to introduce charges for new wheelie bins.

From next month, residents will need to pay Cheshire East Council £30 for a new 240-litre bin, or £25 for a smaller 140-litre bin.

Bus users are urging councillors to back their call for a new bus station in Crewe – claiming the current one is an ‘accident waiting to happen’.

Cheshire East Council says the station will be improved as part of wider regeneration plans for Crewe’s Royal Arcade, which it bought in 2015.

Nantwich Town knocked out of Integro Cup on penalties by Chasetown

Nantwich Town bowed out of the Integro League Cup after a 4-1 penalty shootout defeat to Chasetown FC at a wet and windy Weaver Stadium.

The Dabbers had taken the lead after 39 minutes when a Joe Malkin shot was blocked and fell for Steve Jones who turned past Chasetown keeper Curtis Pond and slotted home.

Two rail workers have been injured in an incident at Cholmondeston railway bridge near Nantwich.
