A530 Baddington Bridge weight fears raised three years ago, says HRE

The call for a 7.5 tonne weight limit on the A530 Baddington Bridge near Nantwich was raised with Cheshire East Council three years ago, a National Highways report shows.

But that weight limit was only imposed two weeks ago, and Cheshire East Council has not carried out any strengthening works in the meantime.

Cheshire East Council admits problems with new planning system

Cheshire East Council has acknowledged there are problems with the ‘reliability’ of its ‘upgraded’ planning system and says it is working with the supplier to make further improvements.

The council was contacted by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) following reports 87 residents had complained in one day to a campaign group that they had been unable to lodge objections against a 325-home development proposed for Sandbach.

A new application has been submitted for part of the former B&M store in Nantwich to be converted into 20 apartments.

A previous application from Apavi Group Holdings was refused by Cheshire East planners in the summer, but this latest one says issues relating to bin and cycle storage have been revised.

Council staff urged to report violence after 21 incidents since April

Cheshire East Council staff are being urged to report all incidents of violence and aggression from members of the public to protect themselves and fellow employees.

There have been 21 reported incidents since April this year – 18 were classed as physical assault, aggressive or threatening behaviour and three related to verbal abuse or offensive language.

Cheshire East’s “upgraded” planning system has come under fire as one councillor said she’s been inundated with complaints from residents unable to respond to consultations online.

Cllr Rachel Bailey (Audlem) said the number of complaints she’s had from Audlem residents and forwarded to planning officers “isn’t sustainable”.
