Cheshire East Council has granted permission “in principle” for two separate small developments in Bunbury.
But councillors have raised concerns that both sites could be for large houses ‘which are not needed’.
Thousands of pounds have been raised in memory of a Wistaston youngster who died of a rare cancer.
More than £3,500 was raised at a charity night held at Shavington Club in aid of the Owen McVeigh Foundation.
The former Cheshire East Council leader Michael Jones, who represented Bunbury ward, has died at the age of 61.
Mr Jones was first elected to Cheshire East as the Conservative ward member for Bunbury in 2011 and became council leader the following year.
A new play area and new Alpraham and Calveley Village Hall are helping to reconnect local families and bring life back to the community.
The play area, which features an adventure trail, play tower with slide, multiple swings including a basket swing, totem poles, and a tractor springer, was opened by Ward Councillor Becky Posnett.

Cheshire East Council planners have recommended councillors grant permission in principle for two homes in the open countryside at Bunbury.
The Peckforton Estate wants to build the properties on land off Sadlers Wells, and 10 residents have objected.
Pupils at Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School in Nantwich have received a donation of reflective vests as part of Road Safety Week, helping students get to and from school more safely.
The donation, from David Wilson Homes, includes 60 hi-vis vests for pupils to wear while walking down busy streets, ensuring they can be easily seen when visibility is reduced on darker evenings.

A planned new Sainsbury’s Local which will create about 20 jobs in Shavington has been granted a licence to sell alcohol from 7am to 11pm every day.
The new store, which is still going through the planning process, is earmarked for land south of Newcastle Road, close to the Shavington Park development.

A “Proms” style concert at St Mary’s Church in Acton near Nantwich has helped raise more than £2,000 for the Royal British Legion.
It was held on Remembrance Sunday and was organised by Stephan Davies as the 4th ‘Proms at Acton’ concert.
The A529 Broad Lane in Stapeley is closed in both directions this morning due to a fallen tree.
Cheshire Police say the A529 road is completely blocked between the junctions of First and Second Dig lane.
Fire crews mooo-ved quickly when they rescued a cow which had become stranded in a canal near Nantwich.
The animal became stuck at the canal at Minshull Lock in Aston Juxtra Mondrum at around 1pm on Saturday (November 15th).

The Wistaston Memorial Hall & Community Centre on Church Lane was filled to near capacity for the 76th Annual Service of Remembrance, as the local community gathered to honour those who gave their lives in service of their country.
Wistaston Memorial Hall stands as a lasting tribute having been built in the shape of a cross more than 75 years ago in memory of the 16 men from Wistaston who lost their lives in the Second World War.
